History of ASCI

As you may well know, the number of patients with cardiovascular disease is rising recently owing to the changes in dietary habits and fast-paced living practices.

Nevertheless, there have been remarkable development in the quantity and quality in the testing methods for non-invasive cardiovascular diseases thanks to the advancement in imaging technology. The cardiovascular imaging in the Asian region, also, has achieved great advancement in recent period.

A large number of radiologists and cardiologists have voiced the need for an organization representing cardiovascular imaging group in the Asian region, and consequently, representative of Asian countries resolved to establish the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Imaging(ASCI) in April, 2006.

With the enthusiastic support from ASCI members, the Society¡¯s Inaugural General Assembly and 1st Scientific Congress (ASCI 2007) were successfully held with 545 participants from over 26 countries in Seoul, Korea on April 27 and 28, 2007. Preparations are now well underway for the 2nd Scientific Congress (ASCI 2008) which will be held in Singapore from April 19 to 20, 2008.

Moreover, currently, a feasibility study concerning the publication of a journal dedicated to cardiovascular imaging in Asia is in progress, and with successful funding, we would be able to have a quality journal that represents our society.
And during the past few months, members of the ASCI Homepage TF Team have dedicated their time and effort selflessly to renewing the Society¡¯s website to offer our ASCI members more useful and up-to-date information on cardiovascular imaging. We hope this website would become a forum for the exchange of knowledge among our members.
We would like to invite you and your colleagues to the ASCI to join our mission to advance the science and art of cardiovascular imaging and to improve the understanding and teaching of cardiovascular imaging in Asia.

Thank you.
